Rescue

Sometimes on a journey, a hike or a pilgrimage one needs to be rescued. On life’s pilgrim journey, everyone needs to be rescued. But you may ask, “What would I need to be rescued or saved from?” If you were caught on a mountain trail in a blizzard, you might need to be rescued to keep you from freezing to death.  On life’s pilgrim path there is a spiritual analogy.  You need to be rescued from eternal death. This is a condition of alienation from God and is a punishment for  falling short of God’s guidelines and commands and for controlling our own lives in rebellion against God. All people miss the mark and fail to fully do what God desires and commands.  Therefore, all need to be forgiven, rescued, and reconciled with God. Because every person needs to be saved from the punishment of eternal death, Jesus came to be the needed Savior or rescuer. One needs to call out to Jesus to come to the rescue.
