C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) was a well known English author, who taught for many years at Oxford University and Cambridge University. In his younger years he was an atheist, but through the influence of J.R.R. Tolkien and others, he came to believe in God and then converted to Christianity in 1931. He describes his life and conversion in the book, Surprised by Joy. He later wrote many books including Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain, Miracles, The Screwtape Letters, Till We Have Faces, The Four Loves, and The Chronicles of Narnia.
